While traveling to the east of France to present Vatel in a student fair, Lionel Demoment, the Vatel Lyon Admissions Officer, decided to spend the night at the Campanile Nancy Centre Gare Hotel with the students accompanying him. And guess who opened the door to welcome them: none other than Florian Veyrier, a recent alumnus, who is now the hotel’s General Manager. This is his story.

“After I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Reims Champagne-Ardenne University, I wanted to continue my studies in a specialized Business School in a field where there were job vacancies. Vatel responded to what I was looking for.

I’ve only got fond memories of the time I spent at Vatel, especially with guest lecturers. We had specialists who were still working, whose courses were really interesting, as well as Human Resource Managers who came to present their hotel to us and tell us about their job vacancies. They all knew what they were talking about, as they all had worked in several different jobs. They told us anecdotes about what their jobs were like on a daily basis.

Even before I graduated, I was hired as the Revenue Manager for the Mona Lisa Hotels & Residences Group, in Aix-en-Provence. I worked there for a year, before starting at the Louvre Hotels Group, first of all, as the Assistant Manager of the Campanile in St Etienne Villars.

The Group promoted me quickly, and I then managed the Campanile Hotel in Sedan. An interesting initial challenge, as I was only 24 years old, which allowed me to prove myself in several different ways:

  • Human resources management (hiring a whole new team);
  • Quality control (upgrading to new standards);
  • Sales strategy (drawing up a new sales and pricing strategy).

And the good results I had allowed me to be appointed in June 2013 to manage the Campanile Nancy Centre Hotel, the first ‘new generation’ hotel for the Louvre Hotel brand. Besides the fact that I went from a 40 to an 80 room hotel, I had two new challenges: change management in this new pilot hotel and preparing its opening in a few months.

The modern, young and dynamic image this hotel has is embodied in the Le Comptoir Bar & Lounge, where guests can relax and spend time together. To optimize the bar-experience concept, I recently hired a flair-bartending champion, a real asset for our bar. He juggles with bottles, glasses and shakers, giving customers a real acrobatic show.


I’m truly convinced that my passion for the hospitality industry in general is what allowed me to meet all the challenges I fixed for myself. Our profession, like many others, has a lot of constraints, but brings so much satisfaction to those who are ready to give 100% of themselves for their customers, without thinking about the number of stars the hotel has.

My next challenge? Continuing to expand sales in the hotel I’m managing now and in the future, managing a hotel that’s even larger!
