A Vatel 2012 alumnus, today Julia Jachowicz works between New York, Miami and San Fransisco, where the three offices of Project One Hospitality, a company founded by Christopher Roberts, a Vatel 2006 alumnus, are located.

As the Marketing & Communication Manager in this specialized tourism and hospitality consulting company, Julia is in charge of drawing up all the strategies required to support “POH’s” fields of activity. Consulting, Marketing, Special Events and Design.

“Even when I was just a little kid, I really didn’t have any idea of what I wanted to do later on in life, except perhaps as I played tennis every day, maybe  to work as professional tennis player. As I progressed in school, I was more and more attracted by cross-cultural and international relationships. I was born in Poland, and had the opportunity of studying all over Europe and in the USA, where I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut.

Vatel has an excellent reputation, all over the world, and in particular here in the US, with its Los Angeles Campus. So after my Bachelor’s degree, I wanted to include Vatel studies in my resume, and come back to France to study, as I really love France. And I’d like to insist on the fact that a French degree in hospitality and tourism is a guarantee of quality recognized by all professionals in the field. The time I spent in Vatel in France made me appreciate the school even more, and I had such a great time with my classmates and my professors, who helped me decide on what I wanted to do in the future.

What I really liked in the hospitality industry was the many different jobs and missions included in this field. High level tennis honed my taste for challenges, and that’s what yo have on a daily basis in the hospitality industry, as no day is ever the same as the one before. You meet new people, learn new things, discover new tools and respond to new requests each and every day; it’s great! This profession gives you the opportunity to excel and see the fruit of your work rewarded immediately. You see yourself improve both from a professional point of view as well as from a personal one.

I was recruited, [through Linkedin] by Christopher Roberts, who founded and heads Project One Hospitality, also a Vatelien, as the Marketing and Communications Manager. POH is a hospitality consultancy based in New York, San Fransisco and Miami. Here’s a short list of what I’m responsible for:

  • Marketing strategy
  • Digital communication
  • Brand management
  • Media strategy - publicity and promotion
  • Communication strategy (press and public relations, partnerships)
  • Internal communication in the three offices

I really love working in this company that’s just the right size, where team spirit is really strong and our staff members are really talented. We all come from different cultures, so our ways of management are very complementary. We’re all really motivated because we trust this company and want to help it expand, hand in hand.

Speaking of which, if I just had one piece of advice to give to the thousands of Vatel students in the world, it would be to really believe the the potential of the company that they’re working for. That’s the way you can challenge yourselves. Accept criticism to question yourselves, and you’ll be able to overcome anything!” JJ
